greyline station vintage photo

Built in 1928,

by what would become Southeastern Greyhound Lines, the building now known as Greyline Station was once used as the companies headquarters as well as a hub for bus maintenance.

In the 1940’s…

Southeastern Greyhound was actually Lexington’s largest private employer. But by 1960, the building at the corner of Limestone & Loudon was vacant. The city of Lexington acquired the property in 1972 & used it for the local transit authority, Lextran.

Having been empty again for decades, the building was then added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2014, in hopes of saving it from demolition. And in 2018, work finally began to revitalize the old Greyhound building & transform it into the mixed-use development now known as Greyline Station.

The 65,000 square foot complex

is now home to a variety of retail stores, offices, dining, a radio studio, and event space housed in the one-time bus shed.
